movements & Style?
A Baroque Session (with Carolan & Friends) has four movements, each approximately four minutes long. The work is very accessible, with some fabulous contemporary twists - as we would expect from the music of Raymond Deane!
Combining Genres?
The brilliant idea of combining Irish traditional music with pieces by classical European composers and works by Turlough Carolan came from Maria Kelemen, founder of the Young European Strings (Dublin), who commissioned A Baroque Session (with Carolan & Friends).
Traditional Tunes?
Each movement features one or two Irish traditional tunes - modified and reshaped in really interesting ways!
Carolan's Music?
